Pocket PCs, mobile phones, PDAs and other wireless devices are making it increasingly possible for organisations to gain leverage from the multiple benefits of being able to access "live data" on the move. Where computers are either impractical or too expensive, such devices offer an affordable and manageable alternative. Many of these devices are now available on standard mobile phone contracts making mobile devices accessible to most businesses.
Using PathFinderMobile™, managers, assessors, trainers and HR professionals can obtain up to the minute information and update data regardless of their location - saving valuable administrative time and ensuring the required information is always available. Managers can update information whilst speaking to individuals or book them onto a training course if required. E-mail confirmations, SMS reminders and induction information can be invoked at the touch of a button. Taking notes, gathering evidence, uploading photographs, voice recordings, and signatures are just some of the ways that PathFinder Mobile™ can be utilised onsite making huge savings in terms of time and resources. It can deliver surveys, quizzes and tests to measure on the job knowledge, skills and attitudes virtually anywhere in addition to just-in-time learning virtually anywhere.
"The PathFinder system enables us to work smarter" says Ian Woodhouse, On-Site Inspection Services Manager for Warrington Fire Certification. "Using the PathFinder Mobile™ module our assessors can now access key information via a PDA and carry out their onsite competency assessments in real time - irrespective of site location or weather conditions."
Many organisations are starting to use handhelds to deliver online diagnostic assessments in environments where laptops are too obtrusive or impractical. PathFinder Mobile™ enables access to any part of the PathFinder system but is optimised for access via handheld devices. This makes it an easy to use and rewarding experience for the individual.
"The availability of handheld devices with internet access and an increasingly mobile, geographically dispersed workforce have converged to make access via a mobile device to our PathFinder application not only viable - but operationally sound," said Christian Greenshaw - Managing Director of AccessAcademy. "Because of the efficiencies offered and ease of use uptake in the marketplace is growing rapidly and is being driven not only by organisations but also by users as they are realising it can make them more proficient at their job."
